A True Community Endeavor

  • Following nearly ten years of legislative work and several election votes, the East Helena community expanded into a K-12 School District to provide their students with continuous, local education.

  • The pre-bond planning, programming, and marketing efforts provided the District with guidance to successfully pass the bond.

  • SMA and East Helena School District worked collaboratively to facilitate several community outreach events throughout the pre-bond and design process to gather community input. The community’s involvement throughout the design process was critical in creating a new educational and community center for East Helena.

A State-of-the-Art High School

  • Following the planning effort, the school was designed for 600+ students as a Class A school.

  • Equipped with flexible, 21st century spaces, a multi-use commons/cafeteria and adjoining stage, a competition gym and auxiliary gym, fine and performing arts programs, Career Technical Education spaces, and state-of-the-art educational spaces, the new school opened its doors in August 2020.

Commons

Welcoming & Flexible Communities

  • With flexibility for the present and future in mind, the school is composed of large and small community areas and shared spaces that are linked together by classrooms and corridors.

  • Home-like “front porch” and “back porch” areas link the core of the school which is composed of the commons, main office and library.
