A New Home for Hi-Line Reservists
The Malta Readiness Center, located east of Malta, includes 33,000 square feet in the main building and 35,000 square feet of support facilities. Traditional spaces associated with training of soldiers and the daily operations of the unit were also incorporated in the design.
The project also included construction of smaller support buildings, anti-terrorism force protection and improvements to the site. SMA worked with the Department of Military Affairs to achieve building and space design that meets the stringent 1330-31 programming and square footage requirements.
SMA was challenged to provide a design for an efficient, durable, and long-lasting facility. This facility has achieved LEED® Silver certification.
Durable and Warm
A palette of warm and durable materials were selected to create a welcoming environment for the service men and women who will be training and using the building.
