Bringing Light to an Under-Utilized Space

  • Lewis and Clark Public Health, with multiple locations in town, worked with SMA to renovate an unused basement space in the Murray Building.

  • Their primary goal was to create office and collaborative spaces that did not have the typical feel of a basement, but rather be open, airy, bright, and encourage wellness and collaborative activities.

Transparency + Connection

  • The floorplan was designed to have transparency and connection through to the new exterior windows from the entry and reception area.

  • New office designs included connective glazing to open the space and allow light in. Collaborative break out spaces include flexible furniture to encourage conversations and communication.
