Simple, Durable Materials + Finishes

  • SMA partnered with St. Peter’s Hospital on the renovation of their Behavioral Health Unit. With a focus on simplifying materials, colors, and creating a common space for patients to gather, the design included a new nurses’ station that opened the end of the hallway.


  • The common space is located directly across from the new nurses’ station location, which provides improved visibility and is constructed of durable materials.

Streamlined Design + Improved Visibility

  • By providing a streamlined design and improved visibility within the space, patient and staff safety has improved as well. A few of these improvements include fully accessible shower rooms, allowing staff and patients to move around with more ease. SMA is always honored to create spaces that support staff and patients in their important work dealing with mental illness and accessibility.
