Long-Term Vision

  • This 10-year Master Plan of their 8,500 acre facility for the Montana National Guard (MTNG) analyzed all aspects of existing building conditions and campus infrastructure including civil, mechanical, and electrical and information technology infrastructure.

  • Also analyzed were security, traffic, landing strips, storm water drainage, historical preservation, training ranges and more.

  • SMA coordinated the Master Plan with City of Helena and Lewis & Clark County officials for adjacent proposed and approved developments.

First Impressions

  • Several implementation projects have stemmed from the master plan process including a redesign of the Fort Harrison Entry Gate, which creates a first impression to all visiting the fort.

Response Planning

  • SMA has been fortunate to have a significant role in the future planning of the Guard facilities at Fort Harrison and Helena Regional Airport. The planning process included a thorough study and master plan of the facilities and infrastructure of the Fort Harrison cantonment area, the adjacent range and training grounds, and finally a planning study and analysis of the Airport facilities.
